Mikpritja Theth: The best accomodation in Theth

I will begin by saying this is not a sponsored post, but we enjoyed our stay here so much that I HAD to write a short post about Mikpritja Theth. However, the post does contain affiliate booking links. If you decide to use one, we may receive a small commission at no extra cost to you.
During our hike from Valbona to Theth, we decided to stay at Mikpritja Theth as it was a highly rated accomodation that was closer to the trail than other places in the main town of Theth. The villas are located just off the main hiking trail as you descend into Theth – roughly 15minutes walk from the town centre.
As we rounded the bend, we were greeted by the smiling face of Leo who welcomed us to Mikpritja and showed us around the restaurant and to our villa.

Mikpritja Theth
Mikpritja Theth is a family owned business run by Leo and his 2 brothers. They opened their doors in 2024 as a newly built set of villas to accomodate for the rise in tourism in Albania. Leo and his brothers are all local to North Albania and have lived around the area their whole lives. If you’re after a taste of Albanian hospitality, warmth, and food then Mikpritja is for you.
The establishment contains 6 villas (each with mountain views), the restaurant/bar, a communal campfire area, and an outdoor garden area. Although it is relatively small, there is enough space to relax and enjoy the views without being too close to other guests.
Mikpritja Theth is open all year round in both the summer and winter. However, it is far busier during summer due to hiking and outdoor activities in Theth.
Apart from everyone working at Mikpritja, there are also two pet bunny rabbits that call Mikpritja home. I forgot their names, but you can see them hopping around the garden during the day – they’re super cute!
The Villas
There are 6 villas at Mikpritja Theth. 2 are suitable for couples, whereas the others can accomodate up to 4 people.
All the villas come with fantastic mountain views, wooden flooring, and a private bathroom with shower, toilet, and bidet. Each villa also has access to free wifi.
Check-in is from 3:00pm to 10:00pm and check-out is until 11:00am. Leo happened to meet us at the entry of Mikpritja, but you would normally check-in from the restaurant (which serves as the lobby/reception area).
We stayed in one of the villas for 4 people as we were travelling with friends. The villa itself was spacious and there was plenty of room for all of us. It was also extremely clean and the photos online were an exact representation of the villas.
As mentioned, the bathroom contains a shower, sink, toilet, and bidet – all of which are clean and functioning well.
The water pressure and temperature in the shower is great, but we did find that the floor outside the shower could get slightly wet due to the shower curtain. Combined body soap/shampoo is also provided in small bottles for your convenience.
The bedrooms are setup with one large double bed in the loft and one bunk bed on the ground level. There is ample space in the loft and bunk room for your luggage and the area never feels cramped.
The beds themselves are extremely comfortable and we all slept well for the 2 nights that we stayed. Towels and face towels are also provided for all guests..
In the centre of the villa there is a small living space with a table, couch, television, and small stools. We often spent our evenings in this space playing cards and having a laugh.

The Restaurant
The restaurant at Mikpritja is fantastic. It’s open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with breakfast included when booking via booking.com.
We ate dinner at the restaurant both nights and we continue to rave about how great it was – even now, months after leaving. The portion sizes were huge, the food itself was delicious, and it was very well priced.
The restaurant mainly serves meat platters (the staple of Albanian cuisine), however there are also side options of soup, vegetables, salad, and potatoes (see image of menu for full details).
One thing you absolutely MUST try is the yoghurt sauce. This yoghurt sauce is the best yoghurt sauce I have ever eaten. It’s light but packed with tasty garlic flavour that leaves you wanting more. We loved it so much we had 2 large bowls of it each night.
As I said, the portion size is huge. We shared one choice of meat, grilled vegetables, potatoes, yoghurt sauce, and a salad between 4 of us. It’s incredible value for money.
The only small downside is that you may have to wait for a short while to eat if the restaurant is busy. However, this is understandable as the restaurant is only small with limited staff.
Breakfast is buffet style with a mix of food including cold meats, salad, fruits, sausages, eggs, Albanian donuts with fig jam, and bread to name a few.
Coffee, tea, and hot chocolate are also included with breakfast (though only regular cow milk is available). You can also choose to have water, juice, or milk.
You can stop by the restaurant at anytime during the day to have a drink. They serve their beer in ice cold glasses (kept in the freezer) which was a treat with the hot weather.
If you’re up for it you can try some rakia made by Leo’s grandfather. It’s strong stuff, so watch out!

Mikpritja Theth Final Thoughts
Everything was perfect from the start to finish at Mikpritja Theth. It honestly was our favourite accomodation whilst in Albania due to the warm hospitality of Leo and his staff, the cleanliness of the villa, and the amazing food. If you choose to stay here, I can guarantee that you will have a fantastic time.
